The Role
Buckinghamshire Building Society is looking for a driven, experienced individual to join its busy Mortgage Operations department. In this challenging and varied role, you will be a will be responsible for managing the Society’s Mortgage Arrears book. The main responsibilities of the Arrears Manager will include:
- To manage the Society Mortgage Arrears book and ensure risks are highlighted and acted on accordingly.
- Producing and reporting trend analyses and other management information with regards to forbearance and arrears.
- Deputising for the Head of Operations at appropriate arrears meetings.
- Monitoring, reviewing and controlling arrears cases in accordance with Society Policy and Procedures, Codes of Conduct and Regulation and within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
- Manage the day-to-day activities required to operate the Society’s Arrears Operating Model.
- Liaison with customers with mortgage arrears to develop a plan for dealing with their financial difficulties and clearing the arrears, consistent with both the customers’ interests and the Society’s commercial interests delivering a personalised first-class service.
- Monitoring and ensuring adherence to negotiated payment plans.
- Complying with arrears and forbearance policy once approved and implemented.
- Preparing documentation for the Society’s Solicitors to commence possession proceedings with a view to obtaining an Order from the Court and attending (with the Head of Operations) any hearings if appropriate.
- Dealing with any higher lending fee claims in conjunction with Finance Dept.
- Liaising with relevant agencies and Company Secretary in respect to repossessed properties and building insurance cover.
- Communicate with the Society’s customers to provide information regarding any external services that may be available.
- Preparation of arrears reports for committees or meetings as required.
- Implementation of any key regulatory changes in the arrears space.
