The Role

The Buckinghamshire Building Society is looking to recruit a highly self motivated individual to join our Mortgage Sales Team as a Business Development Manager covering predominantly Central London and Southern Region. In this challenging and varied role, you will be joining an organisation that is greatly respected within the Intermediary Mortgage Market, which has a unique lending approach that allows our underwriters to have discretion to agree mortgages up to £500k without any referral process. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic person to join a top-level team.

The main responsibilities of the Business Development Manager will include:

  • Identifying and delivering new opportunities, with a view to building and maintaining long term broker relationships.
  • Attending conferences, exhibitions, sales meetings and round table events as necessary.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop new business proposals that support the Society’s intermediary strategy.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact and providing support to existing accounts over the telephone and in person, broadening relationships and maximising potential for growth of high-quality mortgage application volumes.
  •  To increase the society’s exposure by developing existing and  identifying new relationships to increase the volumes levels of business in Central London

Identifying opportunities for campaigns and attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and providing feedback and information on market and creative trends.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Demonstrated sales / business development  experience (essential)
  • Completed CeMAP qualification – levels 1, 2 and 3 (desirable)
  • Experience working in a comparable role (preferably within a similar financial services institution and similar location including Central London  )
  • Commercially astute – able to provide insight into the wider Building Society arena
  • Strong understanding and experience within the intermediary market including working with Mortgage Clubs and Networks
  • The ability to provide insight into the wider Intermediary mortgage market
  • Presentation skills (internal and external customers)
  • Experience of remote working
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels (broker to board)
  • The ability to assimilate information and make timely accurate decisions

This role requires a clean driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively throughout England and Wales including overnight stays as necessary.
