Buckinghamshire Building Society employees were happy to be involved in the recent employability day for students at Chalfont Community College.
Throughout the day, we participated with other local companies in an off timetable day. Our staff had a stand in the main hall and we were able to provide information on careers in the financial services industry.
Several members of our team were also involved in running mock interviews for students in order to provide experience with tips and feedback and help build confidence. As a local employer we had volunteers from across the business, all of whom were keen to share their expertise with the students.
Buckinghamshire Building Society sponsored a workshop delivered by our partners WizeUp, financial education specialists. Together with Ed Flack from WizeUp, we delivered five hands-on workshops focused on financial education for year 11 students to help them prepare for the future and build financial resilience.
“As the only financial institution based in Chalfont St Giles, we are committed to supporting our local community. We believe that financial education is a vital skill for young people to acquire and were delighted to be able to support the day by sponsoring the workshops. The team have thoroughly enjoyed our day with the Year 11 students at Chalfont Community College.” Linda Reed, Operations Manager, Buckinghamshire Building Society.
This is the first of a number of sessions that we have committed to in conjunction with both the college and WizeUp. We look forward to further strengthening this local partnership and really helping students get to grips with their financial education.
Andrea Gilbey, Careers Coordinator at Chalfont Community College. “Thank you so much for attending our careers fair yesterday – what an incredible ‘buzz’ it created throughout the school. Many of our students are continuing to reflect on what they learnt and who they met today. I feel confident in saying your contribution will assist them with their future decisions.
If you are based in Buckinghamshire and feel that your school or college could benefit from a similar workshop focused on financial education, our marketing team would be interested in hearing from you. Please get in touch via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
