Buckinghamshire Building Society is delighted to have awarded a grant to the Chalfont St Giles Memorial Hall Trust Committee to install WiFi and to connect via Wi-fi all the fire alarms to selected mobile phones which will trigger a phone alert in case of fire.
“Using your generous grant, we have been able to give our users an extra facility and a much safer hall to use, as the fire alarms are all linked into the Wi-Fi” said Tony Hoare, Chairman of Trustees, Chalfont St Giles Memorial Hall.
Installing the system has a number of benefits for future hall bookings:
- For general hall users, web access is now available for presentations.
- Improved mobile phone, tablet and PC access for web and email.
- Web access available for the Infant School for educational purposes.
- Linked fire alarms connected via Wi-Fi in order to give phone warnings to selected mobile phones in case of fire.
“We operate across the whole of England and Wales and are proud of our position as the only independent financial institution in Buckinghamshire. Based in Chalfont St Giles, of course we have a particular affinity to the village. We were delighted to provide this financial support in order to make the Memorial Hall safer for users and also bring the facilities up to date with Wi-Fi access” said Gerard O’Keeffe, CEO at Buckinghamshire Building Society.
Many of our members and staff live in or close to Chalfont St Giles, so we like to champion village activities such as the Wi-Fi project. In recent months we have also provided financial support for the fireworks display, the Christmas lights switch-on as well as volunteer helpers for the village show.
As a mutual building society, we regularly support local community initiatives and make charitable donations. Our members also vote annually to select a Buckinghamshire charity that receives a donation, awarded through our foundation, which is managed by Heart of Bucks.
