Ring-fencing of day-to-day banking services is one of the reforms brought in by the UK Government aiming to strengthen the financial system following the financial crisis, that began in 2008 . Our clearing bank, Barclays, will satisfy this requirement by setting up a new ring-fenced bank. 

As a result we have been allocated a new sort code.This is now ready to use,

What do I have to do?

If you wish to make payments into your Buckinghamshire Building Society savings account(s) via standing order, faster payment or any other transfer method, you will need to use the Buckinghamshire Building Society new bank details given below. Whilst we will be able to receive payments using the old bank details well into 2018, they will need to be changed by 1 January 2019. This is why we are recommending that you amend the payment details you use to send payments to us as soon as you can. Please ensure you include your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number in the reference field.

What payment methods are affected by these changes?

These changes will affect you if you use one or more of the following options to pay into your Buckinghamshire Building Society savings account(s):
(i) Standing order;
(ii) Faster payment;
(iii) Transfer money online from your bank account(s) into your Buckinghamshire Building Society account(s).

I have a mortgage with you. Do I need to make any changes?

If you pay your mortgage by direct debit, you do not need to take any action – your payment will be redirected to us automatically.
If you pay your mortgage by standing order, faster payment or online transfer, then you will need to use the new bank details above when making the payment. Please ensure you include your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number in the reference field.

I want to make an overpayment on my mortgage. How do I do that?

If you would like to make overpayments on your mortgage as a separate arrangement to your existing direct debit, you will need use the new bank details above, ensuring you include your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number in the reference field.

I have direct credit from another company paying into my Buckinghamshire Building Society savings account, what do I need to do?

If you have a direct credit from another company being paid into your Buckinghamshire Building Society account, you should not need to take any action as payments made via this method will be automatically redirected to the correct account.
If you need to set up a new direct credit into your Buckinghamshire Building Society savings account you will need to give the company the new bank details, ensuring you include your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number in the reference field.

I use faster payments and think my bank has swapped the Buckinghamshire Building Society details automatically?

Some banking providers may have redirected your faster payment to the Buckinghamshire Building Society new bank details automatically. You may also see, when using internet banking that the Buckinghamshire Building Society sort code has changed to the new sort code 20-01-72. This is entirely normal and you do not need to make any further amendments to your payment instructions. Please ensure you include your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number in the reference field.

What happens if I make a payment to the old account details?

Until 1 January 2019 all payments will be automatically redirected to the correct account number and sort code. After this date, this redirection may stop so we recommend that any standing orders, online transfers and faster payments are changed to the new bank details as soon as possible. I have a monthly saver account with Buckinghamshire Building Society, how do I amend your bank details on my payment?

If you make payments by standing order or faster payment you need to contact your bank or building society who make the payment on your behalf, and request that they use our new bank details, ensuring that your 10 digit Buckinghamshire Building Society account number is quoted in the reference field.

Are my own savings/mortgage account numbers changing?
