Here at Buckinghamshire we appreciate that this can be an extremely sensitive subject, dealing with the possiblity that you or your loved ones may not be able to look after and manage their finances. This can be an incredibly difficult subject to talk or think about. However, by putting it off it can cause far greater long term difficulties when those who are caring for you are trying to manage your financial affairs when you have lost the mental capacity to do so.
Firstly we would recommend obtaining professional advice from a solicitor who can help with the Power of Attorney, it is not complicated or difficult but it is worth making the time to put the correct forms in place. By putting in place a Lasting Power of Attorney you will save a great deal of difficulty, delay and ongoing expense in the long run.
If you require a Power of Attorney over an existing savings account, please contact us and we will send you out a form to complete. Once the Power of Attorney is in place, your solicitor will be able to certify some copies of the Power of Attorney document and we ask that you send us one of these along with the completed form. We will electronically identify all attorneys named on the document and we will also need you to send copies of identification documents as detailed in the ID requirements.
Once you have selected the savings account that you require then download the POA Application form complete and return it with a certified copy of the Power of Attorney document and identification for the donor and the attorneys.
