Our Branch

To allow for clear paths of access, we keep our branch free from clutter. For your reference, our counter tops are high, however we do have a table within the branch should you need to write anything down.

The branch is wheelchair accessible, and seating is available to you during your visit.

Our staff are always available and willing to offer their assistance, should you need it.

Hard of Hearing and Speech Impairments

Our branch has a Hearing Loop installed, please let staff know if this is something that you would like to use. If you need us to speak slowly, please just ask.

If it is preferable, we are happy to provide and receive information in a written format, whether you visit us in branch or communicating with us remotely.

As always, you are more than welcome to involve a trusted family member or friend in conversations about your account.

Visual Impairments

All our written communications are available in larger fonts and braille. If you feel that this would benefit you, please let us know and we can provide this to you in the future.

We are also on hand to talk you through any written communications, whether by phone or in-branch.

Online Accessibility

Our website is equipped with the ‘Recite Me Accessibility’ tool bar. This allows for text-to-speech capabilities, the ability to apply multiple reading aids, and the option to translate our site into over 100 languages.

Vulnerable Customers

Buckinghamshire Building Society is a member-centred society, committed to supporting our customers and community. It’s one of our core values and affects everything we do. This includes the way we support our vulnerable customers in achieving financial security by providing a safe and sympathetic environment for them to manage and discuss their savings and mortgage accounts. We are acutely aware that such customers may be at a higher risk of falling victim to scams and fraudulent activity and may also need help in avoiding making decisions that would be to their detriment.

Our staff are given training and an in-house guide that provides us with practical tools and strategies to help us recognise and support vulnerable customers and those that may be struggling with a capacity issue. At various times our customers may require special consideration, for instance when organising Power of Attorney or coping with issues due to bereavement. In these circumstances we can provide access to practical, jargon-free information and help finding the external sources of advice. Our team will treat you with compassion and respect when you seek our help and support. If you would like to talk to one of our team, please call us on 01494 879 500.

The Society is a proud member of the ‘Safe Place’ scheme. If you are in danger or feel unsafe whilst in the local area, please come straight to our branch where we will offer you assistance.

Mental Health

Dealing with your finances can be incredibly stressful and can often be to the detriment of your mental health. If you are concerned about your financial situation, our staff are on-hand to help you. This might take the form of practical guidance, or we may direct you towards support from trusted mental health charities.
